Welcome to the Physics Days 2022, March 2 – 4, 2022 organized by Aalto University, Finland!

The Physics Days 2022 is organized by the Finnish Physical Society and the Department of Applied Physics at Aalto University. Due to the uncertainty surrounding the development of the COVID pandemic which was still present 6 months prior to the conference date, the decision was taken to hold the conference this year again as a virtual event.

Dating back to 1947, the annual Physics Days conference is an important tradition of physics research in Finland, providing an opportunity for physicists to congregate, network, and present their recent research and applications. Physics Days is particularly important for young researchers, as it provides a valuable forum for giving scientific presentations and posters to a wide audience. In this spirit, the theme for this year’s Physics Days is Future Leaders. A critical aspect of this conference is the international and well-recognized invited speakers, representing rising stars in their respective fields, whose plenary talks this year will initiate parallel sessions on topics ranging from quantum systems to soft matter, photonics, and machine learning.

To further extend the dissemination of physics research in Finland to a broader audience, a Studia Generalia lecture will be organized for school children and the general public.
